Many ways to help lift our brothers and sisters in Metro Infanta from poverty and help transform the world! A. Education: A1 Named or Memorial Scholarships: In the past Metro Infanta -- Derilos, Gurangos, Pallugnas, Potes Pias and Santiagos -- may have felt they never really knew if their student graduated or not. Starting in SY 2004-2005 donors will give scholarship grants to specific secondary or collegiate students for four years so they will have a sense of actually making a difference in one person's life. These scholarships are named after the donors or in memory of a deceased loved one. Each student will be required to correspond with their donors through Metro Infanta Foundation. In parenthesis below are examples of donors now committed. $100 per year for a student in Mt. Carmel High School (Joe and Lonching Pujeda scholar, Infanta, and Colleen Smith scholar, Burdeos; Mita Recio Pasia scholars in IPHS) $300 per year for a college student in NQCC. (Joan Sanderson scholar) $2,500 or $625 per year average for a collegiate scholar in a college or university in Manila and other cities. Cost may vary according to field of studies or university (Bishop Labayen scholars; Garcia scholars) $3,500 or $1,750 per year can fund tuition costs for a masteral or doctoral degree (not medical), depending on field of study and choice of university (One Arizala scholar in Lyceum of the Philippines). A2 School supplies: Metro Infanta Foundation has donated funds to provide a dictionary for every classroom in Infanta Central School as well as a television set and sound system for teachers' meeting room. You can make a donation to purchase pencils, notebooks, or books. A3 Gabaldon Project: Cost estimate for this project to rebuild the ruins of our former schoolhouse is currently not available. Donors have donated to date a total of $1,145. Of course we will need much more than this, and we hope more of our kababayans will support this major fundraiser in due time. B. Religious: Many of Infantahins prefer to make donations towards religious causes. Below are various needs: B1 Prelature of Infanta $20 per month or $240 per year can provide a stipend for a priest (priests are currently receiving $10 per month). $50 per month or $600 per year can help subsidize any of eight (8) poor parishes in the prelature $20 per month or $240 per year can provide a stipend for a catechist. $ 41.66 per month or $500 per year for a seminarian (Knights of Columbus and Melecia Garcia) B2 Carmelite Seminary: Room for one seminarian: $6,600.00 Chapel for Seminary: $27,500.00 (Some of our kababayans have expressed an interest to fund this item. We have asked for a more detailed cost estimate so donors can make a choice on what section of the chapel they wish to fund.) Five square meters: $1,375.00 One square meter: $275.00 B3 Notre Dame De Vie: Donors have donated nearly $15,000 to help fund a building project and programs. Some donors have made donations ranging from $100 to $1,000 per year for five years. C. Humanitarian and other causes: These are emergency needs that come to our attention occasionally. For instance, last year we purchased some medicine for the Mortiz brothers. |
